Eliminate Confinement
Raised Beef & Industrial Agriculture
Welcome
to the non-violent, pro-active campaign to
eliminate industrial agriculture beginning
with beef cattle. Our campaign begins with
confined animal feeding operations, and the
deleterious effect this has on the planet,
our communities, and our health.
Bye Bye Beef Top Ten Reasons
10. In the production
of a single pound of beef, 11 times more
greenhouse gas emissions result than during
the production of 1 pound of chicken, and
100 times more than for a pound of carrots.
9. 16 pounds of grain
are required to produce 1 pound of beef.
8. Methane, a potent
greenhouse gas, is produced from both ends
of cattle to the tune of approximately 100
million tons a year - a key factor in the
acceleration of global warming.
7. Confined animal
feeding operations (CAFO’s) produce
approximately 500 million pounds of waste a
year. One cow produces roughly 120 pounds of
wet manure daily.
6. There are close to
100,000 feedlots in the United States alone.
5.
70% of grain grown in the United States is
used by the meat industry.
4. Upwards of 5,000
gallons of water are required to produce one
pound of beef.
3. 70% of Amazonian
rainforest, considered to be the lungs of
the planet, is now occupied by pastures and
feed crops – corn and soybeans to supply
CAFO’s around the world.
2. Global warming and
the destructive aspects of global climate
change are caused in large measure by the
burning of fossil fuels and industrial
agriculture. 18% of greenhouse gas emissions
are attributable to the raising of animals
for consumption.
And the number 1 reason to say Bye Bye Beef:
Giving up meat eating,
especially beef in the form of hamburger,
roasts, steaks, taco’s, stews etc. is the
single most important and effective
individual effort that can be made to make a
difference in the health of the environment
of the planet.
It is time to overthrow an established
institution which is rapidly diminishing the
earth’s capacity to heal itself. For the good of the
nation, and the globe as all whole, and its
inhabitants that populate the earth, the
eradication of confined beef cattle feeding
operations, and ultimately beef cattle in
general, must take center stage of our
personal transformation and change agenda.
Science speaks loud and clear to those who
choose to listen: The raising of cattle has
overwhelmed natural systems. Air pollution,
water contamination and waste, as well as
degraded human health are all byproducts of
the production of meat for human
consumption. The challenge is not easy, but
we can be pro-active and build a voice for
the voiceless cattle that is heard across
the land.
The Objective and The Goal
It is time to say good-bye to hamburgers
and steaks, and any food choice prepared
with beef raised in concentrated or confined
feeding operations around the globe.
Will you commit to the elimination of beef
from your diet or eat only environmentally
sustainable beef? Will you sign the pledge and
join with others who recognize that the
evolution of the beef raising regime is no
longer sustainable and hastens the collapse
of creation as we know it?
Take The Pledge
There are several options to make your
commitment to ByeByeBeef.
Take the
ByeBye Beef pledge and be heard by the herd.
