The ByeByeBeef campaign recognizes and
honors the differences in how individuals
approach and process personal challenges. We
all move at a pace of change that is unique,
thus ByeByeBeef offers three unique pledges
reflecting the choice options we have while
being in consort with the over-all principle
of the campaign itself.
Living more simply, eating lower on the food
chain, and reducing our ecological footprint
are not simply mantra’s for the enlightened,
but objectives for all of us to insure that
a sustainable planet is presented to
tomorrow’s generation by this generation. We
honor the gradual process adopted by most to
achieve this goal, and yet affirm those
willing and capable of over-night
conversion. Reducing our intake and
ultimately eliminating our consumption of
meat has scientific, moral, environmental
and health reasons to substantiate its
rightful place as a significant behavioral
change.
Four pledges are offered for
your review and signature.
#One-Half: I
(your name) agree to eat beef only
one day a week and only once during that
particular day. It is a challenge for me to
'go cold turkey' (or cold beef so to speak)
but this gesture of abstinence affirms my
belief in moving toward a beef culture free
of confinement raised cattle.
#1. I
(your name) pledge to eliminate beef
consumption at all fast food outlets,
restaurants, banquets, parties, and picnics
unless I am able to confirm that the beef
served meets the criteria of organically
range fed, and has not come from confined
animal feeding operations.
#2. I (your name) pledge to avoid
purchasing any beef that is not certified,
range fed and organic, in addition to
honoring pledge #1.
#3. I (your name)
pledge to eat no beef at all, regardless of
the means of production, or the
circumstances where it is offered. In
essence, I am pledging byebye burgers,
steaks, veal, veal chops, ribs, beef taco’s,
burritos, enchiladas, stroganoff, pastrami
sandwiches, beef tarter, or whatever beef.
Expectation of one who signs
any of the four pledge statements.
1. You are comfortable having your name
listed on this website as one who has for
probable cause come to the conclusion that
giving up beef is the right thing to do.
2. One can re-visit one’s pledge at any time
and ‘upgrade’ or remove without either
praise or condemnation.
3. Proselytizing is expected: When we are
proud of our decision to benefit the planet
and our friends and family it is appropriate
to share why. However, one caveat – no one
likes a noisy born again vegetarian. Be
humble, and when the door opens like on 4th
of July when Uncle Lou asks “Why no burger?”
you can explain your decision in a fashion
that neither makes Uncle Lou uncomfortable
or you sound like a know it all. However,
sharing the facts is important. All fields
require content. You will be added to the
BBB email news list. We will not share
your email address or other information with
anyone.
